You may find that images you re-size after uploading into your Wordpress.com blog lose some color and sharpness. If you want better image quality use an image editing application to re-size copies of your images to the specific dimensions required then upload and insert those copies.
I waste a lot of time troubleshooting images in my posts. Timethief explains how proper image preparation changes all that.

That’s interesting Cheryl because I’ve just started a second blog for Miksang photography where I use only photos that are as captured flawed or not. The idea behind it is mindfulness and its’ actually refreshing to leave them alone for a change!

I certainly can appreciate your feelings about NOT messing with photos. Most of the time I leave mine untouched other than a little cropping (check out my Photo Journal Link above) but every once in a while I just bust out and experiment with digital processing.
