The Sketchbook Project 2013
The Sketchbook Project is a global art experience, an open invitation to people from all corners of the earth to fill the pages of a blank sketchbook. This sketchbook community is made up of people who believe art comes from anyone, anywhere, regardless of education, background and skill. The Project’s sketchbooks comprise the largest collection of its kind in the world, 75000 and counting, housed in the Library of Inspiration at the Brooklyn Art Library.
On Tour
These handmade books, the 2013 sketchbooks, are on the road, a traveling exhibition touring North America in the Project’s Mobile Library. The exhibition comes to Canada, specifically the historic Distillery District in Toronto, June 7-9.
A Photo Log
My sketchbook is a photo log, created to show you the tale of my first and most enduring love affair. I was a teenager the first time my aunt and uncle took me on vacation in northern Ontario. I fell in love. And, as love has a habit of doing, it shaped me. Today, many decades later, I’m making preparations to move there full-time, to Otter Lake. This sketchbook is a snapshot of this wondrous place where I always feel whole.
Some Things Unexpected ♥ ♥ ♥
♥ My good friend and fellow blogger, Mary E. McIntyre, surprised and overwhelmed me with her incredible generosity. She created a beautiful slideshow of my Photo Log. I’m sharing Mary’s gift here.
♥ Each time my sketchbook is viewed I get an email notification with the individual’s first name and the city where they live. Sounds like a small thing, but I get a thrill with every message!
♥ The 2014 Sketchbook Project is now open and accepting submissions! Please consider participating, and if you do, please let me know in the comment box below.
