This time last year, my Norfolk Terrier was in the ‘ready-set-go’ mode as she prepared to leap off the back step into the snow that was chin high … for her.
This year, for the first time, we are fledgling snowbirds, south for a couple of winter months. I sorely miss the snow (who said that?).

Lucky you Cheryl – flying south for the winter! I love the lighting in this photo and the way you’ve capture the motion of the falling snow. Very cool!

Yes, I am a lucky girl, Laura – blizzard at home today. I used a little HDR to emphasize the lighting. It was a night shot taken only with the porch light.

Wow, those are lots of thick snow. Beatiful photo….love the way the dog is looking at the gate entrance. I bet his heart really wanted to play outside but it’s just freezing cold. Happy Valentine’s Day. It’s sunny here in Houston although it got cold this weekend. Stay blessed…

Hello Mr. B. I’m hiding out in Fort Myers this winter … fledgling snowbird. Won’t be facing snow in 2012 until March. Hope the worst of it is over by then. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Does she go ga-ga looking for snowballs that disappear into the snow? When we were lucky enough to have snow, each of my three previous cairns thought chasing snowballs was wonderful, and went diving into the drifts trying to figure out where they disappeared. Charley the current cairn did the same thing when she saw her first snow last winter. Is there anything cuter than a terrier face with snow stuck on eyebrows and whiskers?

It’s the snowballs that form on her tummy – it’s always ‘in’ the snow – that get us laughing. Much too tender to pull off so we have to wrap her in a blanket, and she shivers and trembles until they melt away.

I don’t think I’d be as ready to go outside. It looks like a blizzard. Great photo and wonderful entry! Glad you’re further south this year and enjoying warmer, nicer weather.

Trixie would have had an easy time of winter in Ontario this year – mild and relatively snow-free! But who am I kidding. The sunny south has a lot more to offer her. No frozen concrete steps for starters.
