This week WordPress is looking for “… that picture which is unfocused. It may be completely intentional, or accidental. You might have thought about trashing it, but in the end it definitely conveys something.”
I usually try to restrict myself to one shot for each week’s photo challenge. This week I couldn’t choose which photo did the best job of conveying the message – how arduous these airport de-icing crews laboured for two days battling a major ice storm.
March 2011 I was stranded for two days at the Atlanta Airport with hundred’s of other travellers. The de-icing crew were the unsung hero’s. Day 1 they tried diligently to de-ice the aircraft for my original flight to Toronto. As the ice storm intensified the crews simply could not keep up as the cue for take off grew longer and longer. Next day we had more luck! I took these shots from inside the plane … both are unfocused because of the layers of ice and de-icing liquid.
Some other interpretations of this weeks challenge:

Your blog is looking good! Consider me your newest fan. Your photos inspire me to grab my camera. My blog is at http://www.colletteyvonne.ca — it’s sadly neglected though.

I love these shots. They make me think I’m looking into a magic land full of color just beyond some mystical barrier.
I am impressed that you had your wits about you enough to notice the photo op.The one time my plane had to be deiced (Minneapolis in January) all I could think of was planes that crashed due to ice on the wings – and not the creative opportunities that surrounded me.
I think this is a great interpretation of this week’s challenge.

Thanks for your feedback, Janet. Concentrating on the camera and de-icing steps kept me from freaking out!

It was sad and brave. The poor guy doing the spraying never got out of the gondola as the truck went down the line of planes cued for take off. Then one plane skidded on the runway and they raced over there to de-ice the runway around its wheels so it could be towed out of the snow/ice bank … and on and on.
