Cool. My first time seeing the fields just prior to harvest … stunning.

Although I lived in town as a kid, all the land just out of town was cultivated, always in cotton. Now it’s all filled with houses and strip malls. Doubt most southern children have seen cotton growing these days.

Gorgeous, Cheryl. It does look like something out of a fantasy. But oh imagine picking it by hand …

That’s exactly what we were doing, Allyson, thinking of the days when the cotton harvest was done by hand … by slaves! Despite the beauty of the fields, plucking the cotton from it’s thorny nest would have torn flesh.

I’ve never seen a cotton field, it’s beautiful, what month was this taken?

Oh, what a wonderful, magical mind you have, Kristen! Merely cotton fields in southern Georgia where my sister lives. I have visited her many, many times before but never just prior to the cotton harvest!
