Beyond. Do you have a photo which invites the viewer to look beyond? Are there hidden depths in the background? Is the focal point just a framing for the rest of the picture? If it’s not clear why we should look beyond, tell us! Lead us through the story in your photo. (Sara Rosso)
Here’s my interpretation of this week’s challenge. This shot was taken from the upper deck as we cruised out of Fort Myers Beach sailing for Key West.
There are many layers to this shot that invite the viewer to look beyond. The bow of the fishing boat on the right only partially named, then the red channel marker that leads the eye beyond to the turquoise bridge, to other boat traffic, to the buildings beyond the bridge, then … oh! Wait a moment, back up. What is that near the sand bar in the channel?

Looks like the boat is stuck. Love your choice of words. Exciting , fun, adventurous. I always wanted to see the Kew West. How was it? Perhaps I may get lucky this Summer.

When we got back from Key West the little boat was gone, lifted free on the incoming tide. Key West is fascinating, the food, the music, Hemingway’s cats and the wild, colourful chickens that freely roam the streets. There is more than the usual eclectic mix of people. I’ve been there a few times, Mr. B. and remain intrigued by the place.

Thanks. I found your image fascinating. It held my eye captive trying to figure out what was reflection, what was transparent. Was the view of the alley through, or bouncing off the window pane, and so on …!!

Looks like a big oops for the boat captain! I like how the eye is drawn to the tall buildings through the bridge supports. Another trip to Key West sounds delightful! Send some tropical sun my way – it’s still gray here in NC.

It really is multi layered. I find the small boat on the sand looks almost like a toy because of the depth of field. A great shot that draws the eye in.

8:30 am, Ft Myers Beach, November. Yes, I remember the little craft well as it tilted on the sandbar (and that it was gone when we returned). It was a very pretty setting for our adventure.
