Wow, that is going to be a great space! It reminds me of the curved domes you see in the smaller rooms of gothic cathedrals. The b &w really shows the lines and gives it a great sense of motion as one’s eyes travel through the space.

We really loved the coved ceiling on the artists renderings, but the supporting structure to get that look blew me away!

It’s a mesmerising image Cheryl, I would think the end result will be wonderful.

It was incredible watching these trusses go in place. The end result is pretty and a little unusual … looks more like it belongs in the Carolinas than northern Ontario 🙂 But we love it.

Haven’t read the other comments yet, so first want to say I gasped when i first saw this — I love the “etched” sense of the arches, something almost “Dureresque” (which I’ve totally mis-spelled) but reminding me of old-world tales. I love it. Now will catch up on what my pals have to say! Ciao for now.

I’ve never seen roof trusses before these were built for the coved ceiling in the lake house, but I now know that these are NOT the norm, Barbara … the repeating arched lines really appealed to my artzy fartzy side!

I, too, thought this was a trestle bridge or something. It’s the black and white that keeps us looking at the shapes rather than the context. Only after reading the other comments did I realize what it was. And in colour that would be more apparent. Nice, nice work, Ms. Andrews! [And are you kidding me?? That is some structure!]

Not such a big deal, Carin … although a unique design on our lake … now that the walls are up and ceiling boards in place. But, we loved the coved look when we saw the artists rendering and it was a big deciding factor which log home builder to go with.

There’s a great pattern in this structure, and it’s effective in black and white. It really draws the eye in. I thought a bridge at first, but it looks more like the inside of an unfinished building. I think this is one of my favourite shots of yours so far, Cheryl.

Thanks, Allyson. Converted image to B&W with a touch of HDR effect to enhance the shapes. It looks pretty tame now with the ceiling boards in place!

This is fascinating Cheryl. I love structures – I can’t quite figure out, the underside of a bridge? It sure works in b&w.

We are the only people on the lake with a coved roof that runs front to back in our house! This was my first insight into what goes between shingles and ceiling … whoa Nelly!

These are the trusses for the house we are building at the lake. Not nearly as dramatic when sandwiched between shingles and ceiling boards.

Thanks. When we get up there today, Mary, you’ll see the transition to a ‘real’ roof as I only knew roofs before we built this place!
