Gorgeous! It reminds me of the gold tiny boat in the archeological museum in Dublin. Such fine workmanship, and a very interesting shot. Congrats on the macro lens..a whole new world is out there awaiting you.

Again, I love the sense of mystery, Cheryl. However that boat got in there (I don’t read the comments until I’ve made mine), it looks to be an exquisite piece of delicate craftsmanship. (craftswomanship?)

I agree … his work is ‘… an exquisite piece of delicate craftsmanship’. I put it in there, the birdcage, to protect it!

I love that the rudder really works. Have you ever put it to the test?

I’m a coward about putting it in the water, Elizabeth! He didn’t make them from kits … every piece, no matter how diminutive he made by hand!

Thanks, Madhu. I was shocked when my pal made it for me. I was afraid to touch it. It looked so fragile!

Just couldn’t put it under glass for some reason. It’s safe in the bird cage but does get a little dusty … Q-tip time!

This is terrific Cheryl. So interesting that one can’t quite figure out the scale.
A museum piece perhaps? Very much looking forward to hearing the story.

Good point, Barbara … scale. The boat measures 4 – 6/8ths inches bow to stern! The grip, shaft and throat of each hand carved oar is smaller than the diameter of a toothpick! The rudder is hinged, and it works!

Also, the background lights aren’t insignificant. Love how they balance the blonde tones in the boat, er ship. uh, vessel.

You are such a great giggle!!!!! That ‘bokeh’ is from my new-to-me macro lens. Can’t stop playing with the bloody thing! Hence the shot of my miniature rowboat.

A lovely mystery, this. At first I thought it was shot from behind chair backs but that doesn’t work… Then I thought maybe one of those make-a-boat-in-a-purple-cage kits, but I’ve never actually heard of that, so… I ended up sighing deeply and now offer a humble and puzzled HMMMM….
Composition wise, I love all those lines running amok!
Unique shot.

I keep this miniature in a bird cage to protect it. Many years ago (aka 50th Birthday) it was a gift from a pal who does these models for a hobby. For some reason I just couldn’t bring myself to put it in a glass case!

Oh my goodness. All the more wondrous now that we appreciate its size, or lack thereof. Very deceiving. And a purple birdcage… how divine. (:
