The watermelon was very co-operative, Gilly, and posed without any whining on the counter top behind the low profile planter of faux grass, while I took a couple dozen shots. This one was my favourite

Oh wow, what a powerful image – the juxtaposition of shape and colour is quite stunning Cheryl.

Thanks, Allison … one of those ordinary shots brought alive with a little post-processing free ware.

Well now, some might pretend that is indeed a melon, particularly elegantly posed, but I suspect that there’s much more going on here. I suspect this melon is an extraterrestrial visitor, a kind of Martian Trojan Horse perhaps, and what i’m saying, Chery, is PLEASE OPEN WITH CARE!
In other words, not just WOW, but, WOO-WOOOOO?
(Terrific shot)

:):):) The Martian Trojan Horse when opened was redder than Mars and juicy, luscious, Barabara!

Quick! Someone get a machete! Yum. One of my favourite summertime things. Love the pairing with grass… suggests a bit of lolling about après refreshment, in a sky-gazing position. Also the differing textures and lines and the vaguely golf ball ready for a nine iron look. Lovely. A very cool shot, in many respects.

Thanks, Carin. In my world, nothing says summertime like a mouth full of watermelon with the juices dribbling down your chin, spitting seeds over the porch railing …
