I love the light that seems to emanate from the soul of the tree, echoing the electricity in the air. In contrast, the water looks so peaceful, but for that lurking darkness in the right of the image. Great contrast of moods!

Thanks, Cheryl. I think words are finally going to work for me again. I’ve missed you, too. I’m going to catch up on your blog this afternoon.

Fascinating that is was so shockingly violent. I too thought it was a very peaceful scene, though I should have realized that the light was crackling with electricity. I really wish I could have heard the audio!

Nature’s tantrum was of epic proportions … somewhere in the studio I have a good quality recorder, which I will find and keep handy for next time.

The B&W is perfect… best part is the light in those overhanging branches, their airiness contrasting the texture of water and rock and darker tones. A nice ying to the yang created by absence of colour.

Did I say ying? Meant yin. (I did; really.) (;

Aha … something to experiment with more, Carin, the emotional impact through the “… absence of colour”. You are brilliant.

An alluring photo, Cheryl, and just right in black-and-white. I love the moodiness of it, the contrasts, the light touching the branches with a magical glow. I agree with Allison — such depth.

Thanks, Allyson. That section of shoreline has many ‘personalities’

So evocative, Cheryl — I love what black and white gives the scene — the contrasts, the balance. Terrific shot.

It’s an evocative shot that could suggest a calm, lazy day, or something darker. Good treatment, Cheryl.

And ‘darker’ it was last night … shockingly violent electrical storm blew through last night. Inspire the attempt to capture both sides of nature in the post processing of this shot. You say it well, Mary!

What a lovely, moody photo Cheryl. It’s almost ominous and yet, soothing too and with so much depth to it.
