Wordless Wednesday Thumbnail Gallery
On Wednesdays all over the internet bloggers post a photo with no words to explain it. The idea is the photo says so much it doesn’t need a description.
In this particular wordless case, my new and lovely, big-eyed friend needs a name, don’t you think? Wanna help … suggest a name in the comment box!

He is, Janet. The kingdom of the rock garden is his now.

What a thoughtful and fitting gift from Carin. But for the note that suggests he’s new, he looks like he could have been there for some time — like something that’s formed naturally out of the rocks … or an owl that’s been turned to stone? Stories, stories. Can’t tell what he’s made of, but he looks like he belongs and is there to stay.

That’s strange. I put up a comment but it disappeared. It said something about how I love the multiple textures and shades of brown, grey and pink, and the gorgeous owl, and how I couldn’t make out the note but am dying to know what it says.

Hi Elizabeth. Not to worry. Your original comment didn’t disappear. When you clicked on the image to enlarge it you commented there instead of the post. Thank you for both comments! 🙂 The stone owl was a gift from Carin when she did her ’22 hours in bear country’ with me. And the sign says “the great southern owl of all things art. xo”

This is terrific Cheryl — I loved the surprise when I scrolled down and found … “That Great Southern Owl” — (actually managed to enlarge the picture to the point where I could read that secret message) — and of COURSE I want to hear the Wordy side of the story now!

A gift from Carin, Barabara, when we did the Click Chick Connection last month! I don’t know ‘hoo’ is the great southern owl, me or her!

The *owl* is the great southern owl, silly billy. Because that’s where s/he hails from. There are ‘great southern owls of all things: curling, crotchet, muesli’… many, many other species. But the one of ‘all things art’ seems most fitting. Though had I known I might have got the ‘great southern owl of all things fruit froth’… (;

That’s a pretty good name, Gilly, considering he weighs as much as a big rock and he’s nestled in there with the biggies. 🙂

So glad the bird has settled well. Looking forward to the christening. (; And thanks for this pic! What a lovely surprise it was to see it.

A christening sounds like the perfect reason to make a trip north … there is still that beautiful bottle of wine to share with you and P.

Fleye. That’s his last name, his first name is Les. So, in your best “James Bond” voice you should introduce him as… Fleye, Les Fleye.

Oh you have such a lovely, twisted mind, my little sister! Love it. And by pure coincidence, the first name of the landscaper that did all the gardens and granite work here is LES!
