Overlayed two filters, Janet, (i) metal and (ii) sand. This was one of 35 selected by the client for my current installation. The canvas wrapped version has sold.

Oh, so lovely! This one, like Barbara’s would be beautiful as an embroidery or a tapestry maybe on metallic grey purple silk.

Thanks, Elizabeth. What a beautiful idea.Wishing now I’d paid more attention when my Gram was trying desperately to teach me the finer points of ‘stitchery’.

Lovely shot of pussywillows, Cheryl, with the purplish tones (sort of brooding) and the graceful lines. Is it a photo, or a photo of a painting? Either way, very striking. Unique framing too.

It’s a photo, Allyson, post processed using two layers of filter (metal and sand). It was a first time playing with filters and I loved the outcome … just as I’m loving the feedback, especially the emotions the colour choices evoked! And, the framing is part of one of the filters, don’t remember which. I had this canvas wrapped because the framing effect was so interesting.

My first thought was that this is such a hopeful shot – the pussy willows pushing at the sky slowly defeating the dark. Then I saw that it is a piece of your art Cheryl and wow, I’m doubly impressed!

Thanks, Allison. I think it fits with what is labelled ‘photographic art’ these days. The pussy willow shot was layered with two filters in post processing (metal & sand) to get this effect. But I LOVE what you saw in the final image. I had it canvas wrapped for the current show. It’s sold.

Very curious about the ‘how’ in this beautiful piece. The framing, the background… It’s a beauty! (Also, I love the snow; am going to see if I can get my own going…)

WordPress turns on the white fluffies every December. This pussy willow shot was taken a step or two further using filters. Metal and sand … hence the title so I wouldn’t forget which ones I used. So pleased you like the pic and the flakes, Carin!

Well the first phrase that came into my head was “mackeral sky” — though I wasn’t quite sure what that was. So I googled — and there it was again — https://www.google.ca/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=mackeral+sky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&gfe_rd=cr&ei=e1l_VLerO8iV8QfRjYGoAw&gws_rd=ssl — (long url!) and what a beautiful example of one you have caught, with the pussywillows in the falling snow. A really magical shot; and I’m intrigued with how it is “framed” — is it in fact part of an art work in some other medium?

So that’s what a mackerel sky looks like, Barabara! I’ll never look at buttermilk the same way again. This shot was the result of my first attempt at using filters. I titled it with the names of the two used, metal and sand, so I wouldn’t forget. “Sold” in the current photo show.
