Great, great, great effects! I love the abstraction that still preserves identifiable form.

Thanks, Carole. Sometimes I just ‘have to’ mess around, experiment. Always pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

I love the glowing almost votive effect you’ve given these, and the faces becoming like candle flames almost. Very Easter. Very Russian. Which makes me think of that RIDICULOUS kerfuffle about the pianist the TSO has ridiculously banned, but I will not go there because, well, today is Wordless, right?

Thanks, Barabara … Russian roots for these Matryoska Nesting Dolls. And … go ‘there’ anytime, especially when it’s righteous outrage!

Yes what a shame it’s a wordless day. So many words to share about that… (;

They certainly DO SO, Carin … when there’s time enough, driving always beats flying.

I must know more about this freeware you speak of. What you’ve done here is just gorgeous. Love the big fat lines and precise detail mixed with a kind of casual swoop. Lovely choice of colours too. Although I suspect the dolls were already red? I’m not sure I’ve seen ones that aren’t. Now there’s a question for google. Or human beans… Are nesting dolls ever not red?

What I love about post processing, freeware is you just never know what will be emphasized/diminished in the original image. The dark lines on the white surface (window sill) in this shot is where shadow came together with intense sunlight to play on the windowsill and wall. Next time you’re up north, we can play with my favourite Freeware.

What a beautiful treatment of these ‘Russian dolls’, Cheryl! I love the way they have become an abstract painting in the process with simple primary colours and lines.

Thank you Allison. I’m a big fan of freeware for post-processing photos. Windows 8 “Artistry-‘Toon” and then a touch of “Picasa3-Boost” and voila … so bloody much fun. Almost as fun as discovering PERA Mediterranean Bistro for a long, lazy lunch in Williamstown MA on a recent road trip.
