Nice. I am fascinated by birds. I saw two vultures sitting in the top a tree going into my son’s neighborhood the other day. I wish I had taken my camera with me.

Isn’t it always the way. Samsung has really improved their camera (this shot for eg.). For some reason, my phone is always with me … purse or pocket.

Great capture — the two of them, each with his (her?) own perch. I wonder if it’s mother and baby? The bigger one looks like it’s assessing their surroundings, while the little one seems to be watching closely to see what the big one will do. It’s cute the way their webbed feet flop over the side, as if they’re about to topple off — though, I’m sure they’re not!

There was quite a crowd of cormorants assembled, Allyson, each with their own pier post and all in same pose.

I’m quite fond of cormorants. I like to watch them drying out their feathers in the sun after each dive! There’s a place on our river where a row of twenty or so can be seen but I’ve never managed a good photo!

I got up so close to these two I expected them to fly off, Gilly. Nope. Hence the title “Posers”.

No doubt these fellow are singing about show in Fort Myers! Well poised. What a lovely scene. Enticing too, and thank you for this breath of warm air!

Stoney silent stares, Barabara. No singing from this creepy bunch! But the air … yes, warm!

I love the way these birds are so nonchalantly looking up – not deigning to look at the photographer – knowing full well they are the superior species, and besides they’ve got the best spot!

They do have the ultimate perch, Allison … watching land, water and sky … in the hot sun.

And I just noticed that it’s a mum/dad and baby, yes? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the family together like this before… must be the holidays. All the relatives flying in for a big communal fish dive. (:

And it certainly is communal, Carin. Every pier post had its own Cormorant perched and watchful.

I swear to you that just looking at these darlings transports me to any number of favourite places in Florida. I’m on record as saying I’m not wild for the man made bits of the state but adore what’s left of the original. I can almost feel that certain quality of the air, slightly humid, starting to get hot… and feel that fat grass under my feet. The day begs at least three swims and a book, no? Thanks for this!

You have made my day, Carin … how pleased am I these ‘Posers’ give you such joy! They are so non-plussed I was able to walk right up to them with my cell phone to snap the pic!

I agree with Carin. There is a lot to love about Florida in its wild state. And this photo of cormorants is lovely as well as loveable. And such an imaginative thing to post from the sunny south in November, I must say, compared to more obvious choices. Meanwhile, I am in snowy -20 Labrador eating ptarmigan for supper (speaking of birds, but I don’t have a photo!)

I have never eaten ptarmigan, Elizabeth … not even sure how to pronounce it. Brrrr to you at -20. Won’t tell you what the temp is here today, but it’s raining.

I’m not sure either, Cheryl, because around here they call it pineu – the Innu word. Hope you’re having fun in the warm rain, or maybe sunshine by now!
