This reminds me of a song my grandmother used to sing us kids:
“As I walk along the Boardwalk with an independent air.
You can hear the girls declare, “He must be a millionaire”;
You can hear them sigh and wish to die;
You can see them wink the other eye
At the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo….”
What a debonair fellow! What a hoot!

That is hilarious, Cheryl. We have herons at the beach in NB (I think that’s a heron, right?) but ours fly away if you aim a camera at them. I do have some photos of them but taken with a zoom, or of them flying away. This is a wonderful photo. It captures such verve and pizzazz. S/he could be a model on a catwalk!

And to think, Elizabeth, he walked the entire mile of that particular beach. The cutest part was him striding up to children playing in the sand… I had a momentary flash that he was going to kick the ball. Sadly, the kids ran away.

Just look at him striding out with purpose, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one walking around, only flying or still! Well caught Cheryl 🙂

That beach is only one mile long, Gilly. He walked the entire length, stopping to watch children play in the water and on shore, peeking over the shoulders of fisherman and gawking at sunbathers. He took these ‘longer strides’ when I pointed my phone at him to get a pic … hilarious behaviour.
