An ideal photo for a writer’s prompt 🙂

Thanks, Maria … I was challenged to do just that and posted it below.

I love everything about this. And I challenge you to write something about it… a poem, a wee thought, a snippet of memory it inspires. Go on, humour me. (:

Love the challenge, Carin. Will ‘play’ with it and post here. But Barabara has already beat me to it!

Here’s your Challenge Story, Carin: “Balance is all about bare feet, toes doing most of the work. The wind tugs at my hair, pulls it up and in toward the barn rafters. The trick is letting go, only possible when the sun heats my face. Left arm first, floats. I trust my right hand more. Thumb off. Next, the palm. Pressure shifts to the inside of my fingers barely as long as the window frame is deep. Then it’s just the tips, tap tapping a familiar crack in the worn wood of the loft door. A big breath in. A long one out. Eyes close. Right arm floats.”

I know i’m one of many people who love a bit of decay, this is stunning Cheryl, well spotted.

Thanks, Gilly. I was fascinated by it, especially in contrast to the front of the building which was all cleaned up, wall plaque and all.

What texture, what colour — what an invitation to peek inside. I am imagining a carefully closeted seniorita of days gone by, slyly dropping a note through those bars, making an arrangement to meet her “novio” at midnight. I know it’s Florida, but this has such a latin look. Do i have my history totally mangled? Probably. But what an evocative shot and I am sure there are many tales to do with this venerable building, maybe especially on the “wrong side” as you call it.

Love your ‘oh so very romantic’ imaginative response to this shot, Barabara! I think it’s a third story window. I cropped a story off the bottom.

Thank you Colline! Phonography … Samsung Galaxy has a great camera. Picasa3 freeware, Bloom feature helped with the texture.

Cheryl, this is so much more interesting than the ‘right side’ of the building. I love the textures, the gentle colour and the soft patina of the aging building materials. I don’t think new buildings are going to age so gracefully!

I agree … it has ‘aged’ beautifully. Kinda concerned about what the ‘restoration’ will look like. Will it lose the qualities you describe here?
