Makes me yearn for the tropical countries! Or at least countries were snow in spring is considered weird 🙂

I would usually agree with you, Maria but this year I raced home last week from Fort Myers hoping to see some snow before spring got into full swing!

Some interesting photos in reserve, Carin, for when you need a tropical fix!

What an amazing tree, things like this always make me wonder why they evolved in such a bizarre way. I’ve read on wiki that the fruit can be eaten and can float to other islands. Thanks Cheryl 🙂

How sad that the edible fruit is purely decorative landscaping in Fort Myers FLA. I read that it tastes similar to coconut, Gilly.

They are pretty wonderful … Pandanas Dubias is what Elizabeth discovered. Those supporting roots and odd pods match up perfectly with the images in this link: https://summerhibiscus.net/nutornamentalshadepalm/pandanus-dubius/

Pandanas dubius? (Just a guess from googling images of tropical trees.) I do love trying to identify plants so thanks for this challenge!

I think you got it, Elizabeth. Thanks. Looked at this link: https://summerhibiscus.net/nutornamentalshadepalm/pandanus-dubius/ and those odd pods are exactly what I saw.

Prop roots supporting the base – how interesting! I assumed they were the kind of roots that spread and create a whole network of trees – not sure what they’re called – and had never heard of prop roots before.

How cool — in a very warm weather way. I want to know more!

Me too, Barabara. I hope someone can identify this tree.
