The beauty of decay, irresistible, but poignant.

Well said, Gilly. My camera is drawn to decay like a magnet.

I’m a sucker for abandoned falling down buildings Cheryl, and this one’s a beauty. My mind always goes to wondering about the history, when did it get ‘given-up-on’? could it be saved? (yes!) and what stories could it tell? Your choice of the yellowish tint is perfect for setting the tone.

Thanks, Allison … I think it would have quite the story to tell. It is falling down deep in cotton country in southern Georgia.

I like what you’ve done with the tint here, matching the era of the building. It’s always interesting to me that these things are allowed to take their own sweet time falling down. It pleases me to think it’s out of respect for all its service over the years…

Thanks, Carin. Glad the tint works to pin it in time of its ‘hay day’

There’s something captivating about old, falling-down buildings, and you’ve found a compelling one here. My eye follows the boards to judge where and how it’s collapsing, and even though there’s no actual movement, there’s a sense of movement — in our mind’s eye, we almost see a time-lapse of what’s occurred. There’s the pull of history too; we can’t help wondering what these old buildings have “seen.”

Oh you captured it Allyson, particularly since this building thrived in the days of cotton in southern Georgia!

Such wonderful textures here … and the contrast between the horizontal and the vertical. I love this series and, as I have said before, look forward to it becoming a “show”.

Love your enthusiasm for a ‘show’ Barabara. Thinking on that one especially with a lack of show places in Parry Sound.
