That precise shade of blue juxtaposed with that verdant leafiness has to be the most enticing and restful combination that ever existed. Not to mention the gorgeous big old shade tree. Just add lemonade and a good book – oh, and did someone above mention a cushion?

You say so beautifully what I ‘feel’ every time I return to this picture, Elizabeth. Thank you …

Give me a cushion and a book and I’d be happy!

It’s a good wordless choice because the setting demands peace. This isn’t a place for conversation (only one chair for a reason!). Much as a good gab is a beautiful thing, it is necessary to have a retreat of one’s own… I can see why you were drawn to this… a beautifully evocative composition.

Ms. bicycle ally beat me to it, Cheryl. I was about to say (almost) exactly the same thing! Enticing, and lovely! And thanks to a loan from Ms. AH I have exactly the book for the moment in that swing!

I really felt moved to hop the bushes and sit in that chair for a while … my sister had to hold me back.

Give me that spot Cheryl! Ah, to be enclosed in that blue chair hidden amongst the foliage with a good book and a glass of wine! I love the way the sunlight floods the chair contrasting with the darkness of the tree providing shade.

Thanks, Allison. Felt the same way when I saw it. Wonder if the owners of the house would have minded?
