So many stories there Cheryl, but it makes me feel rather sad.

Me too, Gilly, felt sad on discovering this abandoned place, but the swing, still hanging, holding on to its place on the porch despite whatever led to the ruin of the house and barn, lifted my spirits a little.

Makes me think of Andy Griffith country. A porch swing… how southern!

But more than that. On looking more closely there’s so much that shows hardship in this life, the porch swing becomes perhaps the single point of refuge…

I felt hopeful on seeing the porch swing, Carin … someone, sometime loved to sit in that swing, perhaps with the love of their life, holding hands maybe, quiet, thinking about the hard day just finished and looking out over the fields.

Sweet (or sad) that pretty much all that remains of the front porch is the swing. Does that denote the lasting power of romance (I can imagine all the courting couples who sat there over many years) …? It is in any case a delightful and powerful and thought provoking photo.

Another lovely outdoor moment in time in your series Cheryl. This photo really evokes a sense of hardscrabble nostalgia as well, where an acknowledgement of the likely struggle of the inhabitants also comes through to the viewer.

Taken in cotton country in southern Georgia, Allison. Your words ring so true!
