1 May – Far Horizons Award for Short Fiction. Another contest from The Malahat Review for emerging short-story writers from Canada and abroad. One prize of $1,000 (CAD) is awarded. Contest details, guidelines and previous winners can be reviewed here.
15 May – Final Deadline for The Montreal International Poetry Prize, a grassroots non-profit organization committed to encouraging the creation of original works of poetry, to building cross-national readership and to exploring the world’s Englishes. One prize of $20,000 CDN. Read more about the competition rules here.
15 May – 11th Annual Lush Triumphant Literary Awards. From Subterrain Magazine three categories: poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. $3,000 in cash prizes plus publication. Contest details, guidelines here.
31 May – Sheldon Currie Fiction Prize. Offered by The Antigonish Review, Canada’s Eclectic Review. $1,200 in prizes. Contest details and guidelines here.
