This image made me smile, thinking of all the warm days these chairs have enjoyed, and now the cold they must endure until sun and summer come again. I like all the lines and how the snow makes them so distinct. The b&w captures the chill perfectly.

Thanks, Janet … I sure hate it when the snow blows laterally and sticks to everything! In Fort Myers until Sunday … snuck away for ten days of sun and warmth and golf!

Love the lines — of the slats in the chair, the wall behind, the deck beneath. And the stark contrast. I agree, perfect in black & white, aned the way it fades to white behind. It’s a chilly shot, but one knows the chairs will withstand the winter and be there to see the spring.

They are sturdy chairs, Allyson. D. grabbed them off the curb and refinished them … solid cedar.

Nice lines, Cheryl. I hope you’re not getting all the cold weather most of this country has!

Thanks, Carole. Oh, yes, we are getting the same cold … -31 Celsius with wind chill factored in the least two days!

Love the lines. And the chairs have a kind of stoic look about them…
Nice, too, the way the background fades to white. Or maybe that’s the natural background up there! 😉
Beautiful in b&w!

It almost is the natural background up here right now, Carin! I faded out the railing in the background because it introduced vertical lines.

What a lovely stark photo Cheryl – there is a quiet beauty to this scene – a promise that those chairs will hold a spot for warmer times!

Oh yessss! Thanks, Allison. The chairs seem more permanent somehow, or is that ‘solid’ with that layer of snow.

Brrrr! What a fine, chilly shot. Viewed “abstractly” it’s all about “stripes” balanced by the blocky shapes of the chairs (I’ve just been looking at it through half-closed eyes and it works so well as an abstract as well as a real “breath” of winter!). Nice.

Thanks, Barbara. That was the effect I was going for! Those chairs sit 8 feet in on the covered, front verandah. High winds today threw the snow all the way in to the very walls of the house!
