I like all the shades of blue and green and the fantastic fun of all this clutter and character.

Me too, Elizabeth. It’s the most fantastic window at the Fisherman’s Village. I go there as much for the ever-changing creative clutter in this window as the food and cold ones served up at Harpoon Harry’s.

Despite the jumble, the mermaid (what a lovely gold tail!) clearly steals this scene. Interesting, too, how the white candlesticks, though not aligned, create a sort of frame to the composition. But the bird, too, seems part of the story. Perhaps she was a witch and the bird is her familiar? There’s something here that draws the eye deeper into the shot — so much to look at.

I love shopping this particular window at the Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda, Allyson. Always creatively jumbled. Perhaps there will be another photo in the future that will inspire Carin to write a sequel to the tale of Sharon the Mermaid, Murray her two timing man and the genie sequestered in the pink chicken with luscious lashes and long, skinny legs.

The story is the mermaid. Formerly a land-woman named Sharon. A bit of a hoarder. One day she accidentally rubs a lamp in the shape of a long-legged bird among the rubble in her house and out pops a genie (the way they do) and says “May I help you?” Sharon starts blubbering about her life with Murray, her no good two-timing man who is the reason she hoards (but isn’t it all such great stuff??) and how desperately she wants to escape and how all her whole ding dang life she’s dreamed about living near the ocean. “I just want to be able to live near the ocean!” she wails but the genie mishears this as “in the ocean” and presto bongo… “You shouldn’t have any trouble living there now, dear, good luck!” Unfortunately Sharon neglected to request a ride to the shore and Murray will be home soon… and the genie has slithered back into the long-legged bird.

Now there’s a story to keep you smiling and giggling the whole ding dang day, Carin! And, did you happen to notice the red, wide mouthed footed fishy with pudgy peepers sneaking up on the Royal Doulton figurine?

I’m trying to figure out – someone’s sculpture/art supply stash? An emporium of THINGS? The knock down of an art show? What fun it would be to get in there and muck around!

Fantastic emporium, Allison. Never a quick in and out. My sister and I chose to windowshop that time as our budgets were already shot to hades. This is in the water side ‘mall’ called Fishermans Wharf in Punta Gorda, FLA.

Cheryl, what a delight. I could look at this for hours. The bird, the “mermaid” with her sad little golden truncated lower half, the endless other fascinating things. However did you manage to leave this emporium of the strange without taking some of it home. Or did you? (I want the bird!)

Guess we’ll have to arm wrestle for that quirky bird, Barabara … after an open-air lunch overlooking the intercoastals at Fisherman’s Village (Punta Gorda, FLA)
