Our pal wasn’t aware that when the ice went out in March it had taken the bottom step on the old ladder with it. He was unexpectedly down with no chance to ease into the frigid waters! I believe it’s easier to just leap off the end of the dock anyway, don’t you?
In this shot he was scrambling to get out of the lake even as he was falling into it.

What a great shot! His expression says everything there is to say about the water temp! Great interpretation of down.

Thanks, Janet. That was a lucky shot. He was easing down the ladder and I was ready with the camera to record his early season dip in the lake. And then he … well that last step just wasn’t there!

Yes! A leap off the end of the dock works for me! Great “down” Cheryl!

Thanks … I wouldn’t be leaping into the water that cold!

I still prefer to just leap in to inching down that ladder … it’s so much harder to get into the cold water.
