This composition works beautifully, in the same way Carin’s did last week: patterns are good, a pattern interrupted, great, and more interesting by far. I’m interested in the bike rack technology too as I’m on a committee at work to recommend bike racks for the campus (this is not one of our more heavy duty committees, though I do think anything that encourages active transit is important!)

Thanks, Elizabeth. Would you like me to try to get more info on this vertical bike rack system?

If it’s not much trouble, Cheryl, it would be interesting to know more. Thank you!

Love “found” patterns like these. All those dynamic lines, vertical and horizontal, including the slants of sun shining through (I assume that’s what that is?) and even in the frame of the bike. And of course the diagonal of the composition, which adds interest. Good choice to do b&w!

Thanks, Allyson. How clever to see the found patterns! I didn’t see that at all. I was so taken with the unique and clever structure, this vertical bike rack, and with the solitary bike.

Thanks, Gilly. It was a grab shot. Used my cell as I exited the underground parking of a residential building.

I love this — made me laugh as soon as I clicked on. A great sense of suspended action — almost literally. And terrific comp too. The two rows of angled lines, and the suspended “wheelie”.

🙂 Thanks, Barabara. It was a peculair but very space-efficient bike rack. I havn’t seen anything like it before but sure hope it catches on.

That’s brilliant Cheryl. The perfectly aligned bike, the angular lines, the sun reflecting though the rack speak of efficiency, but anticipation too. There’s a day’s bike riding to be had out there or perhaps just a patient wait while the owner toils.

It was inside a secure underground parking facility … no sunlight. Those are painted lines. The lighting was flourescent so I had to go with B&W … and only then noticed those lines.

Oh, nice! At first I thought you’d tilted the photo, but this is actually a brilliant space saving bike rack, yes? Wonderful in b&w; lines painted on concrete look, at a quick glance, like streaks of sunlight. Great angle(s). Love it.

No tilting, Carin. This vertical bike rack was in the underground parking of a residential building. And, I loved the space saving potential.
